For some people watching movies in 3D (stereoscopic) format is a very satisfying experience while others find it annoying. The use of 3D in motion pictures was first explored in 1915 and saw its golden days in American cinema in the 1950s. With the turn of the century, the introduction of new technologies has made 3D popular again. Some 3D documentaries and blockbusters such as James Cameron's Avatar (2009) have contributed to the popularity of 3D. The 3D experience is now also available at homes with a new wave of 3D TV sets and projectors.
