Fashion has never been as expensive as now. Luxury retailers say prices have risen 25 to 50 per cent over the last five years. Exclusive products and accessories often reach extremely high prices. However at the same time fashion has never been as democratic as today. The number of people in the world that can afford fashion products has also grown. Innovation, originality, new materials and variety of choice are some of the arguments used to justify the high prices. Larger margins, promotion costs and the high fees of star designers may be other reasons for such increases.

For me, it's the same to ask if football or basketball players (or movie stars) worth the incredibly high salaries they received. We live in a market based economy, and as a result, if there is enough demand, prices will rise till they are too high and have to decline. Fashion is worth the price till people buy their LV bags or their Chanel perfumes...
