i have read every foundation and dune book there is including prequels, sequels and tributes (brian herbert stuff and most of the I Robot series). In my humble opinionThe first Dune book is better than the First Foundation. however by the emperor of dune, herbert either went mental or ran out of reasonable ideas. asimov has a tighter storyline and the idea of psychohistory as a sort of mathematical way of predicting historical developments is fascinating. ..at least more so than this whole repetitive plots of politics, breeding programs and golden paths
