The legalization of cannabis is a highly controversial political debate. Do you think is should be legalized and if so for what purposes?
Legalization of marijuana debate
Cannabis has long been used for fibre (hemp) and for seed and seed oils. However cannabis is also used as a drug for medical and recreational purposes. Cannabis can have various physiological and psychological effects on the human body, which include euphoria, relaxation, increase in appetite, decrease in short-term memory, impaired motor skills and feeling of anxiety. Most of these are short term effects but some scientists argue that cannabis can produce some long term effects too.
Smoking cannabis is more popular than governments would like to admit. Due to its drug related use, possession of cannabis is illegal in most countries. Production and distribution is usually considered a crime. However, in recent years many countries have decriminalized the possession of small quantities of cannabis, particularly in Europe, North America and South America. For instance, in the Netherlands the recreational consumption of cannabis in coffee shops was decriminalized. In Colorado the sale and consumption of cannabis has been regulated for both recreational and medical use. Recently, Uruguay became the first country in the world were the production and sale of cannabis is legal.

No one who has read a peer reviewed medical article on the effect of long term marihuana abuse would argue about the dangers of pot. question is whether we value individual rights and personal responsibility over the protection of the so-called public interest. drug legalisation (regardless of where you st
and on your personal choices) is about underscoring the individual rights. The alternative of penalising use or distribution has been tested and tried for a great deal of decades at a huge financial and social cost (aka the lost war on drugs). consider the alternative when you don't need to do the policing and can divert a significant amount of freed up money for rehabilitation and still have tons to throw around
